The Chelsea Market: Enjoy Unique Architecture & Convenient Access to Public Transport

The Chelsea Market originally housed the National Biscuit Company, which baked goods including Oreos and Saltines. The building complex was designed in the Romanesque style, with later expansions featuring more Classical detailing. It ultimately expanded to encompass an entire city block. A developer purchased the buildings in the 1990s and renovated the complex into office space on the upper floors. The ground floor food arcade showcases old industrial elements from the railroads as well as a waterfall.

Office tenants include Google, EMI Entertainment World, Oxygen Media, Scripps Network and Time Warner Entertainment/NY 1. The office spaces feature exposed brick walls, high ceilings and other historic architectural details. Amenities include tenant controlled HVAC. The ground floor of the building contains many restaurants and food vendors, including Amy’s Bread, Buddakan, Lobster Place, and Morimoto. Chelsea Market is convenient to the 14th Street and 8th  Avenue subway station, with access to the A, C, E and L trains.
