In order to attract technology firms to Lower Manhattan in the late 1990s, the City of New York partnered with the Downtown Alliance and owners of several buildings including 90 John Street to launch the “Plug ‘n Go” marketing program. Discounts on office space rentals were offered to these firms, as well as seminars, networking events and information sharing sessions. Many technology firms still call the building home today. Leases within the building are still eligible for the Community Renewal Program, Relocation Assistance Program and other New York City real estate incentive programs
This 26 story tower is mixed used, with office tenants occupying the lower floors and residential tenants on the upper portion of the building.
The amenities of 90 John Street include a renovated lobby and elevators, 24/7 tenant access, and 24/7 attendance and security. Telecom and high speed Internet connectivity in the building are excellent. Tenants can choose between Time Warner, Verizon and other telecoms. Existing occupants include Meet The Composer, China Systems, I-Vision, IDB Communications Group and Shafer & Glazer. The building contains several restaurants as well as a Crunch Gym. It is convenient to most major subway lines including the A, C, J, Z, 2, 3, and 5 trains, as well as the Staten Island Ferry.
