Vertical elements clad in white Georgia marble rise continuously to the top of the General Motors Building and are infilled with panels of glass—a modern curtain wall system. The form tapers slightly from top to base. Famous toy store FAO Schwarz occupies the ground floor, which was originally a grand showroom for General Motors vehicles. An Apple flagship store resides below ground, and millions of visitors enter through the prominent glass cube in the plaza, designed by architecture firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson. Other famous tenants include the CBS Early Show, IMG, Estee Lauder and law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges.

Tenants enjoy views of Central Park, and the GM Building is very convenient to the N, Q and R trains at 5th Avenue, as well as the green lines at a nearby Lexington Avenue station.
