Find Manhattan office space at 11 Madison Avenue, Metropolitan Life North Tower | Metro Manhattan Office Space
The Great Depression stunted the growth of the Metropolitan Life North Tower, which was meant to be a skyscraper. It never soared the intended 1,300 feet above Madison Square Park, but is instead a bulky, 450 foot tall structure with 29 floors. The exterior is free of ornamention and undulates, telescoping vertically. Lower stories span 80,000 square feet.
A loggia and lobby along the ground floor of the building features large archways, a coffered ceiling and marble walls. Since the building was intended to be taller than it actually is, there are more elevators than needed, which actually benefits tenants. The largest tenant is Credit Suisse, and Danny Meyer's Eleven Madison Avenue and Tabla restaurants are also located within the building. The Metropolitan Life North Tower is located near the N, R and 6 trains.
