The headquarters of the Mutual of America Life Insurance Company is a 35-story tower situated prominently on Park Avenue and East 51st Street. Completed in 1960 by architects Emery Roth & Sons, the International-style tower was extensively renovated in 1995 by Swanke Hayden Connell. It has also been upgraded to meet LEED certification requirements and received an EPA Energy Star Label for the strategies employed to conserve water and promote energy efficiency. A purchasing program for green office supplies has also been established.

Tenants of the Mutual of America Building, aside from its namesake, include George Weiss & Associates, Kelso & Co., Mizuho Corporate Bank and Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, among others. Several retail tenants occupy lower floors including banks and restaurants. The building is convenient to major subway lines including the E, M, 4 and 6 trains.
