Enjoy Central Park, Grand Central, and World Famous Hotels in The Plaza District

The Plaza District has long been a headquarter destination for many of the world’s largest public companies, law, and financial services firm. Bordered by 59th Street, Third Avenue, Seventh Avenue, and 48th Street, the Upper Fifth/ Plaza submarket is home to the Citicorp Building, Bloomberg Tower, General Motors Building and Sony Building. Anchored by 48th Street to the south and the entrance of Central Park to the north, the Plaza District offers excellent public space and transportation opportunities. When your clients visit, they’ll be pleased to know that your office is within walking distance of world famous hotels like the Waldorf Astoria and Plaza Hotel. From Railroad Development to Corporate Corridor

The Plaza District grew out of humble origins. Up until the time Cornelius Vanderbilt constructed Grand Central Depot in 1871, the area north of 42nd Street was relatively undeveloped. But the depot attracted throngs of workers and businesses to the area, and once the Depot was converted into Grand Central Terminal, the original rail yards were paved over and sold to developers for lucrative “air rights”. By the mid-twentieth century, the Plaza District had become the de facto neighborhood for high-class commercial spaces. Unlike other Manhattan office space submarkets that fluctuate in value and demand, the Plaza District remains the premier destination for Class A office space.
