The Seagram Building is a classic, international style skyscraper by acclaimed architect Mies van der Rohe. It was his first high rise office building design, and his only built project in New York. The tower is also the first office building in the city to boast floor-to-ceiling windows. Its facade, a curtain wall comprised of glass and bronze, features a clarity of design and is void of ornamention. The interior is organized by a regular column grid.

Van der Rohe was praised for the elevated public plaza he incorporated at the base of the tower, which is artfully landscaped and features soothing fountains, blocking out the noise of traffic below. The lobby of the Seagram Building features luxurious travertine and marble, as well as a painting by Picasso. Tenants of the building include Wachovia Bank, NASCAR, and many hedge funds and other financial institutions. The Four Seasons and Brasserie restaurants are located in the base. The tower is near several subway lines, including the E, M, 4 and 5 trains.
